Like glimmers of glory
Your smile came
From underneath a mask so stern
and full of fear
Like the sunrise splitting dark skies
This is what I loved most
To see laughter light your hooded eyes
Like treasure hidden in a vessel of clay
To find your joy was worth any cost
A remembrance of hope beyond loss
You were a child again
And I could see
the thumbprints of your Father on your face
I wish it could always be this way.
To see the Son in your eyes
Like buds in spring
awaiting the promises of life to bring
A day which even creation awaits
And now groans for without words
He will not be late
In His absence
I believed in this truth
When catching glimmers of glory
Hidden in you.
Before the door knobs meet once more
on your face
I wish you knew
The Father delights in you
I only saw a glimpse
but it seemed too late
and now my heart will mourn
when death has its day
But when tears are wiped away
You will not be bound by the grave
He will shout
And you will rise
That treasure of glory
hidden in clay
will now shine
and display the once hidden
life Divine
Be lifted up you everlasting doors
Let the King of glory in
And those door knobs
will never meet again
